GNPC Recognizes Springfield’s Indigenous Contributions, Explores Opportunities in Ghana’s Energy Sector

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming Kevin Okyere, CEO of Springfield Exploration and Production Limited, and his delegation to GNPC’s headquarters in Tema. Our discussions focused on Springfield’s ongoing operations, the broader landscape of Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector, and the importance of maximizing our hydrocarbon resources, particularly in light of the country’s gas supply challenges.
I took the opportunity to acknowledge Springfield’s role as a pioneering indigenous operator and its contributions to Ghana’s upstream sector. Indigenous participation remains essential for value retention, investment attraction, and job creation in the industry.
On the critical issue of Ghana’s gas supply deficit, I reiterated the strategic role of natural gas in our energy transition and economic development. As Ghana seeks to optimize its petroleum resources, GNPC remains open to engagements that align with our mandate to enhance national energy security and economic growth.
I look forward to continued dialogue on opportunities that advance Ghana’s energy sector and deliver long-term benefits to the nation.
