GOIL CEO Engages Transporters Union on Ongoing Reforms and Innovations

As part of my ongoing stakeholder engagement initiative, I had the privilege of meeting with the leadership of the GOIL Transporters Union to discuss the important reforms and innovations currently underway within our logistics and distribution operations. This engagement reflects my firm commitment to strengthening collaboration, deepening transparency, and ensuring that every member of our GOIL family remains aligned with the company’s long-term strategic direction.
I expressed my sincere appreciation to our transporters for their unwavering dedication and for the critical role they continue to play in sustaining GOIL’s growth. This session was driven by my desire to personally connect with what I consider “members of the GOIL household” to hear their experiences, address their concerns, and reaffirm our shared commitment to excellence, safety, innovation, and accountability.
During the meeting, I provided updates on ongoing reforms, particularly regarding claims processing and product allocation. I acknowledged challenges associated with delays in claims payments, which have often resulted from late submissions. In response, GOIL has developed a new automated claims processing system currently undergoing testing. Once fully deployed, this system will significantly speed up verification and payment timelines, providing our transporters with a more efficient and seamless experience.
Additionally, I announced the commissioning of a dedicated team to audit the product loading and allocation processes. This is a key step to ensure fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity across our distribution chain; principles that remain central to the GOIL mission.
The Chairman of the Transporters Union, Dr. (Med) Samuel Asiamah, commended the reforms and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to supporting GOIL’s strategic growth agenda. His feedback underscores the importance of continuous dialogue and shared responsibility in driving operational harmony and excellence.
I also highlighted that of the approximately GHS 207 million in total claims spanning 2024 to August 2025, GOIL has already settled about GHS 157 million, leaving behind a significantly reduced outstanding balance. This stands as a clear testament to management’s dedication to honoring our obligations despite the financial pressures impacting the sector.
In closing, I reaffirmed GOIL’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product quality, safety, and service delivery. I encouraged all transporters to continue upholding discipline, professionalism, and integrity; values that form the backbone of GOIL’s proud legacy as Ghana’s leading indigenous oil marketing company.
