In a demonstration of corporate goodwill and spiritual solidarity, GOIL PLC, led by its Group Chief Executive and Managing Director, Mr. Edward Abambire Bawa, has made a generous donation to the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Ousmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, in support of this year’s Ramadan observance.
During a courtesy call on the Chief Imam, Mr. Bawa presented bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil and milk, Milo, sachet and bottled water, assorted drinks, and fuel coupons—items intended to support the charitable efforts led by the Chief Imam and reach the vulnerable in society.
Mr. Bawa emphasized that Ramadan is a sacred period marked by deep reflection, sacrifice, and acts of charity, values that resonate not only with the Islamic faith but with GOIL’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. “As a company rooted in Ghanaian values, we recognize the importance of supporting our communities during moments of spiritual and social significance,” he stated.
The significance of charity during Ramadan is beautifully captured in the Holy Qur’an:
The National Chief Imam, through his spokesperson Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, expressed heartfelt gratitude to GOIL, noting that such contributions not only sustain the needy during Ramadan but also reinforce the bonds of unity and compassion in the nation. He also offered special prayers for the success and integrity of Mr. Bawa’s leadership and the continued growth of GOIL.
This donation underscores GOIL’s dedication to supporting the spiritual and social well-being of Ghanaians, particularly during a season that calls for empathy, humility, and giving. As the Qur’an reminds us:
“O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned…” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:267)
GOIL’s gesture during Ramadan is not only an act of charity but a reaffirmation of shared values—faith, service, and humanity.
